I think the reason they couldn't use the Eagles was because of the corrupting effect of the Ring - even in close proximity it could sway even Galadriel for a moment. The Hobbits were the only people who could carry it, because they were naturally resistant to it - to an extent. The Eagles would have either refused to carry it, or anyone carrying it (because of the evil) or been corrupted themselves.

Incest is a basic part of alot of mythology, The Arthurian Camelot stories, Scandinavian and Greek mythology,Beowulf, Gilgamesh, etc and it usually leads to disasterous results in just about all of these stories.

Wheras Tolkien's LOTR stories are a basic and classic tale of good vs evil, and don't hit you over the head with their message unlike Lewis's Narnia stories.

That's right and the Narnia stories have Christian elements to them, Tolkien himself had said to Lewis that he felt the Narnia stories were overburdened with Christian themes.
